Privacy Policy

PromptFix ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps users improve and optimize their AI prompts. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and your rights as a user.

1. Information We Collect

PromptFix collects the minimum information needed to provide its service:

Prompt text you submit — When you click "Improve Prompt", the text you have typed in the AI chat input is sent to our backend service for analysis and optimization. This text is processed in real time and is not stored on our servers after the response is returned.
Usage history (local only) — Your past improved prompts are saved locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly copy or share it.
Button position (local only) — The position of the draggable prompt button is saved locally so it remembers where you placed it.

We do not collect your name, email address, account credentials, browsing history, or any other personal information unless you voluntarily submit it via our feedback or waitlist forms.

2. How Your Prompt Text Is Processed

When you click "Improve Prompt", your prompt text is sent via HTTPS to our backend proxy service hosted on Cloudflare Workers (pia-proxy.promptfixco.workers.dev). This is our own private server — it does not store, log, or share your prompt data.

        Why we use our own proxy: The Chrome extension manifest
        declares host_permissions for
        https://pia-proxy.promptfixco.workers.dev/*. This is our
        own Cloudflare Worker backend that acts as a secure relay. It receives
        your prompt from the extension, forwards it to the Anthropic API (the
        makers of Claude AI) to generate an improved version, and returns the
        result directly back to your browser. This design keeps the Anthropic
        API key hidden from the extension bundle and prevents direct exposure of
        third-party credentials.
      

From our proxy, your prompt is forwarded to Anthropic (anthropic.com) for AI processing. Anthropic's own privacy policy governs how they handle data sent to their API. You can review it at anthropic.com/privacy.

Our proxy does not retain prompt content after the API response is delivered. No database stores your prompts on our side.

3. Permissions Used and Why

storage — To save your prompt history, usage count, and button position locally in your browser. All data stays on your device.
clipboardWrite — To let you copy the improved prompt to your clipboard with one click. This is only triggered when you click the "Copy" button.
sidePanel — To support opening the extension in Chrome's side panel for a wider view.
Host permission (pia-proxy.promptfixco.workers.dev) — To allow the extension to send your prompt text to our own secure Cloudflare Worker proxy, which then forwards it to the Anthropic API. This is the only network request the extension makes.

4. Content Scripts

PromptFix injects a small UI button into the following websites to detect your prompt input and offer the "Improve Prompt" action:

gemini.google.com

The content script only reads the text inside the chat input field when you explicitly click "Improve Prompt". It does not monitor, record, or transmit anything else on these pages.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Your prompt text is only shared with:

Anthropic — solely to generate an improved version of your prompt, via our proxy relay.

We do not share data with advertisers, analytics providers, or any other third parties.

6. Data Retention

Prompts sent to the API — Not retained by us after the response is delivered. Anthropic may retain data per their own policy.
Local history — Stored in your browser indefinitely until you clear it via the History tab or uninstall the extension.
Usage count — Stored locally to track your free trial usage. Uninstalling the extension removes this data.

7. Children's Privacy

PromptFix is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the extension evolves. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
